If you take the high road ...

We had a little rain overnight which meant we had a fresher start to the day. However it quickly became a muggy morning.

Over breakfast we chatted to the owner who told us about the evening Team Sky visited the pub. Although the team ordered food in advance, Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish ordered extra food. It fuelled up Mark so well that he won the next stage finish in Blackpool. It illustrates how important eating enough food to keep you going is. Sadly we hear that in some families, parents eat less or nothing to enable their children to eat.

Our ride today was 124km/77miles taking us through Penrith then up into the hills to bypass Carlisle and bringing us to Gretna. Here as we changed direction to head north we had a headwind and a bumpy road surface all the way to Moffat.
