Clyde, Callandar, Cairngorms and Cold!

Thursday's ride was alongside the M74 and the Clyde through beautiful valleys and soaring hills, riding 102km/63 miles. When we reached Hamilton we started using cycle paths as well as local roads to bring us in to the centre of Glasgow. We switched rivers and followed the Kelvin through a beautiful park to the northern suburbs where a puncture curtailed our day.

Friday's ride. After yesterday's problem with my bike, we visited a local bikeshop for help. We then had a 45 minute drive back to Maryhill to resume our ride. As well as delaying our start today, it also added 51km/32miles to today's section which totalled 147km/92miles.

From Maryhill we cycled on some rough roads to Callander where we'd stayed overnight. For a few hours we were the Callander Boys, but there aren't any pictures with subtly placed bikes to protect us 🤣 Lunch service in the café was a bit slow, so we had to cycle fast to Lochearnhead (identified as having a suitable mobile signal) to chat to BBC Radio Swindon about why we are cycling. Once the interview was over, it was time to climb again to Mid Lix and then followed the A827 alongside River Dochart and Loch Tay down to the A9, then raced along to Pitlochry to the hotel before dinner service stopped.

We're happy to have caught up as tomorrow we're climbing high again in the Highlands and it promises to be another tough day. Every day is tough for us in different ways. When we reach our destinations, our bodies are tired, but we are excited for the next day and encouraged by the support and donations that are given. Please spread the word so that more people can be helped.

Saturday - Overnight it rained, so the roads were damp when we left Pitlochry. For the first time this trip we put on our wet weather kit and soon after it rained a little then dried out.

Leaving Pitlochry we had a steady climb into the Cairngorms, arriving at Newtonmore for lunch. More steady climbing brought us to Slochd. By this time it was raining again and the temperature has dropped. We had a wet descent into Inverness, but both of us were cold and tired, so it was a relief to find our accommodation. We cycled 140km/88miles and climbed 1008m.
